An immersive performance bringing together movement, live music, painting, and materials.
Through the simple motif of the number eight, three performers and the audience embark on a shared journey to explore IKIIKI, a Japanese concept referring to vitality, aliveness, and living fully in the present moment. Using the figure eight as a simple structure, the performers interact with one another, the space, sound, materials, and the audience. Different forms of expression overlap and influence each other, gradually creating unexpected relationships and situations.
Through this process, 8 creates a Common Experience: a shared and immersive space where performers and spectators connect, coexist, and experience a sense of aliveness in the present moment. This performance was created as a graduating MA project of Mayu Shirai at the physical theatre school Accademia Teatro Dimitri
