prof. dr hab. Artur Dwulit – puppeteer, actor, and habilitated doctor of arts. He graduated from the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw, Faculty of Puppetry in Białystok. He has been affiliated with the Białystok Puppet Theatre and his alma mater throughout his professional career.
He teaches acting students in the fields of classical puppet performance, theatre of animated forms, and the interpretation of acting songs. As a performer, he has appeared in productions by some of the most distinguished Polish and international theatre-of-form artists, including Duda Paiva, Christoph Bochdansky, Fabrizio Montecchi, Wojciech Szelachowski, Wojciech Kobrzyński, Waldemar Śmigasiewicz, Marián Pecko, Piotr Tomaszuk, and Paweł Aigner.
From 24–27 June 2026, Białystok hosted the 12th International Festival of Puppetry Schools PUPPETNOPUPPET, initiated and organised by the Białystok Branch of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw, in cooperation with the Białystok Association of Puppeteers.
PUPPETNOPUPPET is a biennial festival dedicated to puppetry and contemporary visual theatre, held since 2002.
The theme of this year’s edition is FUTURE, understood as a space for exploring the use of new technologies in theatrical creation. The programme of the 12th edition focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration between academic and cultural communities that contribute to the identity and development of the city and the region.
During the festival we had an excellent opportunity to interview Arthur Dwulit, who explored the themes and festivals’ history – which is about vivid encounter between artists who use puppet theatre as their main form of expression.
