On November 29, 30, and December 1, 2024, a scholarly conference entitled “MONO / DUO / ECO” was held at the Stanisław Wyspiański Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków, Bytom Branch. The event was organized as part of research projects led by Dr. habil. Agnieszka Przepiórska-Frankiewicz and Dr. Paweł Palcat. It was jointly hosted by the Faculty of Dance Theatre (AST Bytom Branch) and the Puppetry Faculty (AST Wrocław Branch).
The conference focused on the phenomenon of monodrama and duodrama (also in a choreographic context), as well as on the broadly understood relationship between humans and nature. Held in the spirit of ecocriticism, the conference addressed, among others, the following key themes:
- the role of documentary practices in artistic creation (social dimension),
- autobiographical threads,
- emancipatory thinking in the creative process,
- relationships with non-human co-performers on stage and the phenomenon of duodrama,
- ecocritical perspectives and the presence of animals on stage,
- the rejection of human subject dominance as creator and of anthropocentrism in theatre,
- the relationship with the audience.
